D. Kema Diggs – Founder/Board Chairman

 

Kema Diggs born in Liberia and migrated to the US in 1978. She attended Middle, High school and college in the US. She is a Salon owner, a cosmetology instructor, and a Certified Hair Loss Specialist. She's a person with passion and love especially for the less fortunate. Born to serve humanity and with passion to reach out to those without hope and are left behind. She wants to empower and educate youths and women by teaching them vocational and life skills in various villages in Liberia. In 2008, she visited her home country Liberia and was heartbroken over the poor living conditions of the people.  Her return to America was filled with the desire to help her people living below poverty. She has always provided her services to the needy, supported various fundraising activities and assisted charitable organizations. She is also the founder of Sheltering Hope, Inc., a 501c3, public nonprofit organization gear towards helping the hopeless. She is also a member of The Royal House of the Dairamontcy of Africa.

Sayeh Diggs – Board Member

 

Sayeh was born in Liberia and lives in the United States. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from Texas Lutheran University. He serves as an Officer for the United States Navy. While still in the Navy Reserve, he held many respectable leadership positions.

Dennis Garsini

Vice President

 

Mr. Garsinii is a native of Liberia. In his thirty-one years residing in the US, he has worked with, and played leadership roles with several nonprofit organizations. He served as national president for the United Bong County Association in the Americas, Inc. (2001-2007) and chairman of the Board of Directors for Liberian Bible & Christian Education Foundation (2005-present). Dennis is founder and president of Elite Nursing Services, Inc. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management and Master of Science in Management.
He is married with five children.

Henrietta Acolatse

Secretary/Grants Coordinator

 

She is a 32 year old mother of 3. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biology through the college of Science and Technology from Georgia Gwinnett College. She also has over 12 years of nonprofit experience ranging from grant writing, board development, nonprofit formation and much more. She has single handedly worked with over 200 organizations meeting their organizational needs.

Tupee Garsini

 Board Member

 

Tupee Garsinii – Board Member– Tupee hails from Liberia and has lived in the United States for twenty-four years. Trained in the health care industry, Tupee developed interests in nonprofit entity that focuses on women issues. She worked as Office Assistant for Metro Women Center in Minnesota for twelve years (2001-2013).
She is married with five kids.

 

Angela Hohn

Board Member

 

She is an RN, BSN, CNOR, a registered nurse and charge nurse for a large, Metro-Atlanta hospital, has an exceptional passion for people with needs. She is a mother of three children, but seems to be the mother of many more.

Her gentle spirit, caring heart, and compassionate demeanor has led her to Sheltering Hope, where she serves in a medical advisory capacity

Melvin J. Crawford

Board Member

 

Melvin is the Managing Partner of Development Management Associates—a consulting firm formed out of the Liberian Diaspora but associating with other firms and individuals on social development projects mainly in Africa. His passion for social progress in Africa has taken him on challenging assignments across the sub-region and the United States.  In Africa, he sees only untapped potential and opportunities in the region’s people.

 

Melvin is dedicated to a life of service to God, family, country, and community—in that order.  Married to Williette for 34 years and with 5 children, he believes that a fulfilled life combines simplicity, service, and faith.   As such, he is active in church ministry, the Diaspora community, and several social organizations.     

 

Ayres Trotman

Board Member

 

He has obtained his Bachelor of Science in Accounting/Administration from Mercer University in Atlanta, Georgia. He has over twenty years auditing experience from both government and public work. He has worked with Arthur Anderson, Northside Hospital, Bank of America, Cash Management, and Allen Photography/Accounting.
